Reprogramming lost keys (deleting old ones)

from $400· 1–2 hours

What's included

  • Car key reprogramming
  • Deleting old keys from vehicle memory
  • New key programming
  • Immobilizer system diagnostics

Details

After purchasing a vehicle - especially one bought from an auction or from a previous owner - there may still be keys programmed in the vehicle's system that the new owner is unaware of. In some cases previous owners may still have duplicate keys. In the United States it is often easy to locate a vehicle, so for security reasons it is recommended to remove all previously programmed keys from the vehicle's memory and reprogram only the keys currently in the owner's possession. During this process the immobilizer system is reprogrammed, old keys are deleted from the vehicle memory, and new keys are added. The cost of this service varies depending on the vehicle make, model, and security system, so pricing is determined individually for each vehicle.
